OpenAI has launched GPT-4o, an upgraded version of ChatGPT-4, which is much quicker and improves capabilities across text, vision, and audio. OpenAI CTO Mira Murati officially announced it will be free for all users, with paying users can get up to five times the capacity limits of free users.
What is GPT-4o?
GPT-4o is OpenAI’s new flagship model that processes audio, vision, and text in real time. It is freely available to all users. It can be accessed with an OpenAI API account and used in the Chat Completions API, Assistants API, or Batch API. It does support the function calls, JSON mode, and the Playground.
Access ChatGPT-4o in the API:
GPT-4o will be available in ChatGPT and the API as a text and vision model. It is included in ChatGPT Free, Plus, and Team, as well as the Chat Completions API, Assistants API, and Batch API.
Free-tier users will be assigned GPT-4o, with message limits changing based on usage and demand. If GPT-4o is unavailable, users will default to GPT-3.5. Free-tier access has limits on high-advanced features like data analysis, file uploads, and vision capabilities.
ChatGPT Plus and Team subscribers will get access to GPT-4 and GPT-4o with higher usage and unlocked features. You can select GPT-4o from the drop-down menu itself.
Started on May 13, 2024, ChatGPT-4o Plus users can send up to 80 messages every 3 hours, while ChatGPT-4 Plus users get up to 40 messages. During peak hours, limits may adjust to just see and ensure the access for all. Unused messages do not roll over. In ChatGPT Team workspaces, message demands are higher compared to ChatGPT Plus accounts.
