Vivo X Fold 3 Pro: First Impression and International Launch Details – Durability is the King

The vivo X Fold3 Pro, initially launched in China in March, has recently been introduced in India and Indonesia. This is Vivo’s first foldable smartphone to launch outside its home country. Available in White and Celestial Black, only the black version will be sold internationally. Here’s our first look at Vivo’s third generation foldable.

In the Box: Vivo X Fold3 Pro

The phone comes in a square shaped box similar to the X100 and X100 Pro, including a SIM ejector tool, documents, a charging cable, and a 120W power adapter.

Design and Display

The X Fold3 Pro weighs 236g and is 11.2mm thick when folded, and 5.2mm thin when unfolded. The cover screen is 6.53″ with a 120Hz 8T LTPO AMOLED panel, 2,748×1,172-pixel resolution, and 4,500 nits peak brightness. It supports HDR10+ and Dolby Vision, has Armor Glass protection, and features a 32MP selfie camera.

The back of the phone features a circular “Big Eye” camera module inspired by luxury watches, covering a 50MP primary camera, a 50MP ultrawide camera, and a 64MP periscope telephoto lens. The back panel is made of ultrathin glass fiber and military grade UPE fiber with a matte finish that resists fingerprints.

When unfolded, the main display is 8.03″ with a 120Hz 8T LTPO AMOLED panel, a resolution of 2,480×2,200 pixels, and a 412 ppi pixel density. This screen also supports HDR10+ and Dolby Vision, has a 3D ultrasonic fingerprint scanner, and a second 32MP selfie camera. The main display is covered with Super Tensile UTG and an impact resistant film.

Hinge and Durability

The phone uses a Carbon Fiber Ultra-Durable Hinge, which weighs 14.98g, making the screen to stay open at angles between 60˚ and 120˚. The hinge can last 500,000 folds and minimizes the visibility of the crease, which is noticeable only from certain angles.

Hardware and Software

The right side of the frame has the volume and power button, with an alert slider on the left. The bottom has a USB-C port, microphones, a SIM card slot, and a speaker, while the top features an additional mic, speaker, and IR Blaster.

The X Fold3 Pro is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC and vivo V3 chip, with 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB of UFS 4.0 storage. The international version runs on Android 14based Funtouch OS 14, with three years of Android updates and four years of security patches promised.

Battery and Charging

The phone is IPX8rated, with a 5,700mAh battery supporting 100W wired charging (full charge in 31 minutes), 50W wireless charging, and reverse wireless charging.

Launch and Pricing in India and Indonesia

After its China debut, the vivo X Fold3 Pro is launching internationally, starting with India and Indonesia. In India, it’s priced at ₹160,000 for the 16GB RAM and 512GB storage variant in Celestial Black, currently available for preorder with sales starting on June 13. Vivo offers 24 months no cost EMI, 10% instant cashback for select banks, and a onetime free screen replacement in the first 6 months.

The Indonesian launch is on June 12, with pricing details to be revealed. The phone features IPX8 water resistance, a 5,700mAh battery, and powerful charging capabilities. The 8.03” LTPO OLED inner screen and 6.53” cover display both offer 120Hz refresh rates and 4,500 nits peak brightness.
